It was a weird conversation . . . what do you say when you know your husband is going to one of the bad cities over there? I know he was worried . . . his voice was very tense and he seemed hesitant to admit he did not want to go . . . it is what he did and he knew he had to do his job.

But maybe the most interesting is the local food. There seem to be four major food groups: mayonaise, pig products, root vegatables, and sweets - but it is still some how enjoyable. Tomorrow we are off to Kiev to finish the touristing in Ukraine.

I watch enough TV for 5 people in a year to watch. Everything from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, to Prison Break, to Commander in Chief, to Golden Girls and Wheel of Fourtune. I watch it all. I love tv which makes me pre-pharmacy major kinda confusing

Guel called last night. He got back from Iraq, or some reasonable faxsimly there off, about two weeks ago. He called last night, and I'm happy to talk to him, but not at 11:55 pm. I told him I'd call him back next week

I got an apartment!!! Yay!! Oh, and I'm so excited because it is two blocks away from work in Coral Gables. That means more sleep, less stress, less expense in gas and my car will definitely appreciate the break. I move in November 15th and I am counting the days!!!

I am late today because I could NOT get out of bed. It was so warm and I had Lily spooned in my arms and legs. I felt like I was in a cocoon of warmth and safety. I dreamt I was lying in the sun surrounded by sleeping puppies. We don't even have a dog, so I have no idea what that was about.

I haven't experienced all that much culture shock during my first month in Syria. I don't walk around wondering "who are the crazy, foreign people with their wacky customs" . . . . . rather I've often been struck with a dizzying juxtaposition of cultures, a disorienting whiff of globalization that leaves me confused and placeless.

It occurred to me today that I've had my Hitachi Magic Wand for about 4 years.
